  1. Double-click to insert an object.
  2. Select sprite.
  3. Name it so you can keep track of what’s what.
  4. Insert it where you want.
  5. Start making your character with the main body parts first.
  6. Use shapes to create the main body parts.
  7. After the main parts are made you can add details to the character.
  8. After your character is done press crop to make the empty area around it smaller.
  9. Add behaviors to your character to make it do what you want it to do depending on what type of game your making.
  10. Test your character in the game to see if you like it or not.

Project Timeline

  1. Watch a tutorial to learn how to draw art to your liking.
  2. Pick an art style to use and you can look at some artist’s work for a style.
  3. Draw a character starting with the main body and then add some features.
  4. Color the character with colors that look good together.
  5. Add textures to the character like shades of color on some parts of the character.
  6. Make a weapon for the character that will fit the character.
  7. Color the weapon with colors that look good with the colors of the character.
  8. Add textures to the weapon by using different shades of the weapon color.
  9. Repeat steps 3-8.
  10. Draw an enemy starting with the main body and then add more details later.
  11. Color the enemy with colors that look good together.
  12. Add textures to the enemy by using different shades of the enemy’s colors.
  13. Repeat steps 10-12.

Skills Commentary

I started the session by making some basic turret designs and basic enemy designs with little textures. Then I made the textures better and started working on some better character looks. I made some new towers like the tornado and new enemies like the boats and submarine for a curtain map.

I was creative when designing characters by making them unique. I was innovative by thinking of new unique ideas like submarine enemies that go underwater and the only way to get it out is by using the tornado tower to pull it up. I was a critical thinker by observing things for ideas like looking at other people’s games and getting cool ideas from them. I was a problem solver by fixing mistakes I made by restarting or thinking through the design.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I communicated with my team every day by telling them to stay on task and talking to them about what they are working on. I collaborated with my teammate’s ideas and made them a thing.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I played Bloons Tower Defense 6 for some ideas for the game, and I used Google for finding stuff.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

During this session, I learned some life skills like collaborating with other people’s ideas to come up with a great idea together.

Reactions to the Final Version

Some advice that Hunter gave our team was to make our maps bigger and make more pleasant sounds that people wouldn’t get tired of listening to or get headaches from. Other than that he said that our game was looking great. Colten said that our game was really fun and he liked it a lot.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

Overall I think that this session was the best one so far and next session we should continue working on the same game so that we can make it better.

Project Timeline

We started out by making a simple map. Then we added a character to go through the map. We added a shrink, and grow mechanic for the character after we made it. We then added effects for dying and winning. After that, we added an AI racer to try to win against. Next, we added a menu screen so you could go to different levels. Then we finished the other levels and added a timer to beat the levels.

Proposed Budget

$1.49 per person for the 19 days we had to work on this game and the resources we had to use.

The Menu I made appears when you first enter the game. You can choose between 3 levels to play through. The character you play is a blue robot horse.

Jessica said, “I love the fire on the horses when they move, it really tells you that they’re cars”.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

The game I made is fun because there are multiple levels to play and you can try to beat your time, every time you replay a level. There are cool effects and cool-looking characters. This is a good game and a variety of players can have a good time playing it.
